    Helping my child to learn

Welcome to Year 3 at Weeke Primary School!

We are thrilled to welcome you to Year 3 at Weeke Primary School, where we embark on an exciting journey of learning, discovery, and growth. Year 3 is a pivotal year as children transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2, and we are committed to ensuring a smooth and successful transition for all our pupils. Our dedicated team of teachers are here to support and guide your child as they navigate this important milestone and continue to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Supporting Transition into Key Stage 2: Transitioning from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2 marks a significant milestone in every child's educational journey. At Weeke Primary School, we understand the importance of providing a supportive and nurturing environment to help children adjust to the increased expectations and challenges of Key Stage 2. Here are some ways we support transition into Year 3 and Key Stage 2:

Familiar Faces: Our Year 3 team is comprised of experienced and caring educators who understand the unique needs of children transitioning into Key Stage 2. We provide a familiar and supportive environment where children feel safe, valued, and respected.

Building Confidence: We focus on building children's confidence and independence as they transition into Year 3. Through positive reinforcement, encouragement, and praise, we empower children to take ownership of their learning and embrace new challenges with enthusiasm and resilience.

Curriculum Continuity: We ensure continuity and progression in the curriculum to support a seamless transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2. While introducing new topics and concepts, we build upon children's prior knowledge and skills, providing a solid foundation for future learning.

Social and Emotional Support: We recognise the importance of supporting children's social and emotional well-being during the transition process. Our nurturing and inclusive school community provides a supportive network of peers and adults who are there to listen, empathise, and offer guidance as needed.

Open Communication: We maintain open lines of communication with parents/carers to ensure a collaborative approach to supporting children's transition into Year 3 and Key Stage 2. We welcome feedback, questions, and concerns and work together to address any challenges and celebrate successes.

Year 3 Curriculum: In Year 3, our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning. Alongside the core subjects of English, Mathematics, and Science, children explore a wide range of foundation subjects including History, Geography, Art, Music, Design and Technology, and Physical Education. Through engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and enrichment opportunities, we aim to provide a well-rounded education that fosters academic excellence, critical thinking, and personal growth.

Get Involved: We encourage parents/carers to be actively involved in their child's education and school life. Whether through volunteering, attending school events, or supporting learning at home, your involvement makes a positive difference in your child's educational journey.
