We know that from time to time children might forget their library book or not have the chance to visit the library at school because it is the holidays. Well this doesn't have to be the case! As a school in Hampshire we are subscribed to a library app, which works in the same way as a real library but is virtual and allows children to read ebooks. Please see the information below to help you access the SORA app.
You will have received an email with all the details regarding logging on to SORA. To help you there is a simple parent guide along with some top tips from other parent users.

The Weeke School library aims to promote a love of books and develop a curiosity for knowledge and information. As a school, we aim to ensure that staff and children understand how their library can support and enrich both of these areas.
Reading for pleasure
Every child should know how to choose a library book to read for pleasure.
Enriching learning
Every child should know how to find and use a library book for research purposes.
Right of access
Every child should have access to a relevant, balanced and stimulating collection of materials to support and extend their learning and literacy. Our stock aims to represent linguistic and cultural diversity, whilst nurturing the personal development of all pupils.
Library skills
During weekly visits, library skills are taught by class teachers, and children are expected to develop increasingly independent library skills as they move through the school (selecting, scanning, re-shelving books and using the online library management system).
The Library Crew
Junior Librarians and teaching staff manage the daily organisation of the library, supported by the Hampshire School Library Service.
Hampshire School Library Service
This subscription service provides advice on all aspects of library management and use. They provide a biannual book exchange service, which keeps our library's stock current.
SORA
The Schools Online Reading App provides free access to over 2,000 eBooks, magazine and audiobooks. Each child has a login. It also hosts reading reward and incentive activities.
Bookopoly
An on-going, whole school reading rewards scheme to encourage the regular reading of a wider range of texts.
A place where reading and learning merge
The Weeke School library is a space that extends beyond its location. As children's awareness of themselves as readers develop, the library helps them to explore their evolving interests and the notion of becoming future scientists, historians, geographers, mathematicians, musicians etc.
Evidence based research
Global research is unequivocal in finding that a well-resourced and well-used library improves reading and writing skills, well-being and overall academic achievement.
