Weeke Primary School

Achievement For All

Sport & PE at Weeke

We are committed to offering children a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and opportunities to try new sports, improve health and fitness, develop skills and compete with other schools, including sports tournaments and galas, intra school competitions and county level competitions.

We foster a spirit of perseverance, commitment and determination through individual pursuit and team work. We take full advantage of local facilities and coaching expertise in local schools and further education establishments.

A number of other teachers and parents run sports clubs both during the school day and after school, ensuring there is always a good range of activities available for our children at no cost. We also offer a range of sports clubs including dance and football which are run by qualified coaches who are experts in their field.

If you would like further information on any aspect of sport/PE, or are a parent who is keen to run a sports club or help with transport to sporting events, please contact the school office.

The government has committed to provide primary schools extra funding for PE and sport. The purpose of the funding is to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport for all children. At Weeke we believe that our sports funding should have a long term impact on our sports provision, be focused on ensuring PE lessons are of a very high quality and enable us to offer our children a wide range of sporting opportunities at a range of levels so that pupils can develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
